“Elegant Funk”ってそもそもなんぞや、というところが気になるところかと思いますが、Disco、Boogie、Modern Funkなど、電子音が入ってきたあたり、80年代以降のブラックミュージック、その中でも煌びやかな印象がある曲、でしょうか。MURO氏の影響力により、もはや”Elegant Funk” という言葉が定着して、それ自体がジャンルとして認知されているような気もします。

内容としては、Sammy Barbot “Music Harmony And Rhythm with Brazilian Rhyme” から、Elegant Funkの象徴とも言えるDayton “The Sound of Music (European Mix)”への繋ぎあたりがハイライトでしょうか。

最後を飾るBah Samba “Let The Drum Speak” feat. The Fatback Band も新旧アーティストの共演とメロディーが相まってラストチューンって感じでとてもいいです。

こちらは初回リリース盤。再発盤は紙ジャケットでリリースされています。個人的には、シリーズもので途中でリリースのフォーマットが変わると収納しにくい（並べにくい）のでできれば統一頂きたいところです。

I suppose the first question is, “What exactly is ‘Elegant Funk’?” If we trace it back, it probably refers to the branch of Black music from the 80s onward—Disco, Boogie, Modern Funk and so on—where electronic sounds began to come into play, particularly the tracks that have a glamorous, sparkling feel. According to the influence of MURO himself, the word of “Elegant Funk” has taken root to the point that it feels like it’s recognized as its own genre.

As for the content, mix from Sammy Barbot’s “Music Harmony And Rhythm with Brazilian Rhyme” to Dayton’s “The Sound of Music (European Mix)”—a track that could be called the very symbol of Elegant Funk—is probably the highlight.

The closing track, Bah Samba’s “Let The Drum Speak” feat. The Fatback Band, also works beautifully as the finale, with the collaboration of old and new artists blending together with the great melody.

This is the first edition release. The reissue was released in a paper sleeve.
